There is currently more information on a bottle of orange juice than on a bottle of wine.

Alcohol consumption is linked to seven types of cancer and over 200 other diseases – yet alcoholic drinks are not required to include any health or nutritional information on their labels.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to make healthy choices for themselves and their families. However, current product labels are failing consumers, with the alcohol industry continuing to keep people in the dark about the contents and health risks of its products.

Without knowing what is in our drinks, we cannot make informed decisions.

We found that only a fifth of alcohol products provide ingredients on their labels. Only 4 out of 10 products include calorie information and just 6% of alcohol products display the sugar content.

Our latest polling report shows that the majority of adults in the UK want better labelling of alcohol products.

76% of people support a legal requirement for alcohol labels to display the number of units in alcohol products, and over 50% want to see nutritional information such as calories and sugar content.

It is our right to know what is in our drinks.

In 2020, the Government announced a public consultation on alcohol labelling, but three years later we are still waiting for this to be published.

Can you send our report to your MP and ask them to call for better alcohol labelling?
